Interview 6 - the interview was 1 wk+ ago. Still no news. I reckon that this should have bit the dusk. That's the problem with looking for job in Singapore. The recruiter just can't be bothered about the feelings of the job-seeker, not even an email to inform...so sad...I was hopeful about this.
Interview 7 - I don't really fancy this although 1 year back, I would have jumped for it. I need to set my records straight.
Interview 8 - this is happening on Thursday, 11/6. It will be almost a dream job, if I nail this. However,I felt it's going to be a long shot. I will gun for it anyway. Come on!!! I need to move on and start contributing.

Job search
Interview 6 - This is turning positive. This wednesday, 2nd interview with the Group MD (top man!). If I nailed this, this should be it....
Interview 7 - If Interview 6 goes well, I should forgo Interview 7. This just don't give me the sense that it is solid...
So...Big day on wednesday.

Job search
ok. I went with interview 6 and 7 today.
6 - an interesting turnout. Was looking for snr finance mgr, they ask me to go for another role - controller. I suspect they couldn't find anyone for that role, because the work location is far north. 2 months ago, I would have said no, but now, I said I would consider, depending on the offer. Role is good, but distance a concern. Let's see. I do feel good about my chances after walking out. X my fingers here.
7 - a young advertising company. all finance functions are outsourced and they want to bring it in-house. Sounds like a gd place, my concerns? sustainability of cash flow and achieving their plans....I didn't have a good feeling leaving this interview.

Job search
Start date - Feb 09
Now - Mid-May 09
Result so far:
1. 1st interview - the employer wanted a work machine and its a very technical position. So no go.
2. 2nd interview - the employer wanted a more junior person...so no go.
3. 3rd interview - a listed S-chip company. but they couldn't pay so they end up getting a junior guy. Also probably, they didn't a FC that poke too much. A younger guy will be more flexible.
4. 4th interview - biggest exhibitor in the world...waited for a wk plus already..no result. likely to have hit the dusk...but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.
5. 5th interview - local listed company. Waiting for 2nd round, if it comes. But the way, the interview goes, sounds a bit funny. current FC still in the job, a 41 yrs old. Not sure if I'm going to replace him or what? Will need some clarity, later on...

Update
It's been a long while...I've moved again. I started on my current job on the 1st Feb 2008. It's been 16 months. Time flies....
In fact, I'm trying to move again mainly because of the recent pay cut. How's that? cutting my own pay, of course the rest of the company came along, but it was and still is a lousy feeling. Another reason is of course, the lack of challenge...In my opinion, I've done what I can for the company, doing up procedures, getting some discipline in the financial arena. So I'm searching for a job in the midst of the economic crisis.

Microsoft
There was this article abount the MS CEO's discipline => "His discipline is impeccable. No meetings take place before 8am....I jog everyday etc etc."
My point is, he can do all this because he is the boss. If you need to be like in office on time and having to work late...can he dictate what he wants to do with his private life. I chose to think not...

Fear II
Hmmn...seems like I don't have a strong case here for reasons to leave.
But the feeling is just not right. A hunch I guess. That's the most I can attributed to right now.
I think if my ex-company calls me for a revised offer that matches the current pay or higher, I would return. But they have preliminary says that it will be a different company within the group and it would be like to deputise or take over the head of finance.
sounds big right? but ideally, I would like to deputise for 1 year or so, before taking over.
To conclude - at this pt of time, I don't have a solid enough reason to say that I wanna go but the feeling that I get from staying here is not so good. Perhaps, it's Maslow playing with my mind. Until, I find a good enough reason......I would stay and acclimatise as much as I can.....

Fear
I fear that I may not last the 1 or 2 years that I want to. why? somehow I'm picky over the attitude of my new boss....
I'm not sure if I'm really kicking up a fuss for nothing or there is really something wrong....I've got to analyse that....before concluding......my dad would say, a boss is a boss, sometimes, you've got to take shit 'cos they pay you the dough.
Here's the attempted analysis:
1. What do you like about the new work place?

Here's the attempted analysis:
1. What do you like about the new work place?
- not so busy
- boss is quite flexible about taking time off, either for bring son to doc or some other reason
- one of the colleague is quite ok while the other didn't really like. there was another colleague whom I'm ok with, left
- more or less established that I could go off on time during certain day in the week to study
- oh ya - $ is good.
- it's a new business to learn
- gives a laptop to work with
- generous when come to celebration
2. What do you not like about the new work place?
- communication with the boss is not so clear or without hiccups currently
- won't have any propspect here in 1 or 2 years
- his attitude when dealing with staff could be improved - like 'my door is always opened' but when you look at the face, it says 'door close - do not disturb'
- boss = typical male. 1 track mind only.
- Almost didn't make it to take leave to study.
- feel bad if colleague has to cover during busy times when I need to go on leave.
- foul language used quite openly in the company but not in the team I work in. affecting but not a big deal (I'm surprise that this even come in as a reason, caused I remembered being a bit of foul mouth myself in younger days).
- In previous co, I'm more involved in my role, such that I take few instructions, do coordination, advise my ex-boss more, take care of more staff. Now, take more instructions, and wait for instructions, less advisory (at this point of time), almost no staff.
- Having to observe the mood of the boss, before approaching does not help

Just a note
have not really blog for so long. much has changed over the past 5 mths.
- new job. yes I've moved. after 4 yrs. really liked that environment but needed to boost my $$
- so this new job...less responsibility, more $, even can blog. so must be good right?
- well, guess what, maslow's hierachy of needs kick in. when you have the dough, you start wanting to satisfy your mental needs, wanting to get challenge. New job, no challenge. so probably be here for 1 - 2 yrs before next moved.
- next baby coming soon, to be exact 2 mths time....scare again....got to wait for wife to bomb out...hopefully like previous time.
