Corporate Politics - Chapter 3 (Life after EB)

And so EB departs....

BH was tasked by the CEO to run Business Group E while concurrently in charge of Business Group G. To me, this is crazy. Both the Business Groups are of substantial size and are complex enough to justify having a high level person to run them independently. Getting one person to run both Business Groups is just not fair to the businesses and the shareholders as well. I couldn't comprehend why the CEO would make such a decision. On the other hand, it could well be that we were asked to cut cost resulting in the inability to recruit. We'll never know....

And so BH took over and was working her butt off, trying to learn the new business, although the fundamentals of the 2 businesses were identical but there remains some minute differences in the 2 businesses, with regard to the kind of customers and the range of products. This in a way is a good development for BH as her portfolio increased. In the midst of her learning, she realised that there were some deals made by EB, that on hindsight, were not beneficial to the company. She lamented this to the CEO and her colleagues. This is no surprise given her style of work. To me, this is fine but the intention must not to smear the reputation of EB but merely to raise the issue for all to consider and work through...The learning process and business issues kept BH busy..

While all the above was going on, NKOB began his activities....to be continued..
